You!
We purchase first North American Rights,
reverting back to the author/designer 3 months
after publication. Payment for articles and
quilt designs is based on complexity and
unique-ness. Payments are made after the issue
is published and mailed. All issues are
published online.
Focus – While we certainly appreciate an
antique quilt, love the look of a traditional
quilt and can get into a primitive quilt – we
feel there are numerous publications devoted to
those styles.
We want to celebrate the contemporary and
fresh new look that is not quite an art quilt,
but something in-between the art quilt and other
quilt genres. We like to call it
Contemporary Fresh.
Fresh – a new slant, a new way of
looking at an old subject, thinking ‘out of the
box’. Dig deep into your box of quilt design
tools and spice it up a bit.

Art Quilts
See us? Yup, that’s where we fall. Between all
the other kinds of quilts and art quilts.
Feel free to submit your ideas. If you
wonder about your submissions (yes, send more
than one!), if it's Contemporary Fresh, just
ask. We'll work with you.
We want you to use your imagination and
break some rules. Submissions for all skill
levels are welcome.
--------------------------------
The
Specifics – Quilts may be pieced, appliquéd,
embellished, use painting techniques, a
combination of any or all, or something you’ve
thought of that isn’t on the list.
Examples
-
·
Use a
traditional quilt block. Take it apart, draw
some new lines on it and put it back together.
That’s Contemporary Fresh.
·
Put
together some interesting color combinations.
·
Leave
off the border, make the border irregular or
integrate it into the quilt.
