Writing Directions -

QuestionOnce my submission is accepted, how should I write my instructions?

Answer - Your instructions should be done on the computer. We work on PC’s, and have WordPerfect, MSWord, Adobe CS2 and CS3 software. Attach your file to an email.

Write your instructions, in this order –

  • List fabrics used.
  • Yardage of each fabric.
  • Cutting instructions - rotary cutting with all measurements, or Template cutting - Name of Template and number of pieces.
  • Piecing instructions for each different block, with diagrams. (computer generated or hand drawn)
  • Assembly instructions for the quilt.
  • Border instructions.

 Important things to remember -

  • Label all templates with an identifying letter or number, name of quilt, number of pieces to cut, straight of grain line.
  • Be sure to connect ‘diagram’ to ‘instructions’ with a note such as – See Diagram 3 for this step. And then label your diagrams to correspond to instructions.
  • Include name of quilter (whether hand or machine) with their contact information.
  • If you’ve received fabric from the manufacturer, please include their website, the name of the collection and the name of each fabric.

QuestionWhere do I send my quilt?

AnswerPlease send your quilt via UPS or FedEx or DHL. We strongly recommend using these companies rather than USPS. They have a better tracking system.

Pack your quilt inside of a plastic bag, and tape it closed. On the bag, tape an address label TO and FROM. Put this package inside the box and tape securely.

Send To Address: Cotton Spice, 509 North Pearl Avenue, Joplin, MO  64801

Phone Number: 417-781-7226

Your quilt will be returned after publication via the same company you used to send it.

Please feel free to email with any questions or ideas.
